Privacy Policy

How MyUniCompass collects, uses and protects student data, written for a product used by minors. We are DPDP compliant: parental consent is required for users under 18, and we do not run behavioural advertising or tracking against children.

We never sell student data, and no university pays us to be recommended. You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by emailing us from your account address.

Children, and India's DPDP Act

The platform accepts students from Class 9 upward, so most of our users are children in law. We ask for a date of birth, and where the user is under 18 we obtain a parent or guardian's verifiable consent before processing continues. Section 9(3) of the Act prohibits behavioural monitoring and targeted advertising directed at children outright, and a parent cannot consent around that prohibition — so analytics and advertising identifiers are suppressed for every minor regardless of what anyone has agreed to.

What we collect

What you enter: your board and grades, activities, target countries, budget range, and the essays you choose to work on. What the product generates: shortlists, chance estimates and planner tasks. Operational records: sign-in events, purchases, and mentor bookings. Analytics only where consent has been given and only for users who are not minors.

Who else sees it

A mentor sees what you choose to share when you book them, and nothing else. Payment processing is handled by our payment provider; we do not store card numbers. A parent who has been linked by the student receives a progress report. No third party receives student data for advertising, and there is no data broker relationship of any kind.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while the account exists. When an account is deleted, the personal data attached to it is removed; anonymised, non-identifying records may remain where they are needed for accounting or fraud prevention. Records we are legally obliged to retain, such as tax invoices, are kept for the period the law requires and no longer.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access by staff is limited to what a task requires. We do not store card numbers at any point - payment details go directly to the payment provider and never touch our systems.

Your rights

Access, correction, and deletion, on request from your account email. Deletion removes the account and the personal data attached to it. Consent given for analytics can be withdrawn at any time.
